| GHANAIAN SCIENTISTS READY FOR TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE |

Ghana 's most renowned Physicists and scientists have geared up for the total eclipse of the sun expected to pass through certain parts of the country.The committee comprises the departments of Physics in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science in Kumasi, University of Cape Coast, University of Ghana, Legon as well as the Ghana Institute of Physics, the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) and Internet industry leader Network Computer Systems (NCS), with support from the Forum for Harnessing Science and Technology for Development (FHSTD) and the ABDUS SALAM International Centre for Theoretical Physics.
Group chairman Prof. FLA Allotey, challenged the members at its innaugural meeting Wednesday March 8, to endeavour to use the event to demonstrate the strength of science in Ghana .The total solar eclipse is expected on Wednesday March 29 between 8.30 and 9.30 AM in Ghana.Scientists say between 9.08 and 9.14 am, a beam of twilight darkness will move along a path of total eclipse between Half Assini in the Western and Aflao in the east.
The central point is to be around Cape Coast from where the Ghanaian team would assemble with physical and social scientists as well as astronomers to discuss the phenomenon. |
